Had a very funny experience years ago when a bloke was trying to get an engine going with easy start effing and blinding about it when all that was wrong was the pull-stop had not gone back fully and therefore there was no fuel reaching the injectors.
Oh dear.
I believe that products like that can cause engine damage leading to the engine needing more and more hence the idea of addiction.
Suspect it is true to be honest. But you would have to have a fairly knackered unit in the first place anyway.

When dad sold his collection of tractors, a combine and 2 ancient fork lift trucks my eldest brother, a mechanic arrived on the scene few days pre sale...his self appointed role to ensure every vehicle started and could be driven. He used easy Start with good results as an MF50 that hadn't started for 15 years roared into life...actually there may have been more to do than quick squib with spray tin. The only one he failed to get started was a very old tractor that younger brother and I had had a go at fixing(on the premise whatever Chris could do we could do.....), anyway he didn't have a hope of getting it started cos we had dismantled every wire and carefully taped them all out of sight.....
