Well I delivered a boat to a Marina last Sunday. On the Monday I moved it on to its permanent pontoon. Well the pontoon hadn't been cleaned for months, if not years, Algae, goose crap. Having reversed the boat in under very windy conditions, I secured the stern rope and the attempted to pull the boat in on its centre rope ( couldn't get the bow rope, 50' boat 25' pontoon) I slipped and broke my leg. It couldn't happened at a more worse time with my order books filling up! Still never mind, just need to get on with it.

It's always difficult pulling boats around when you can't get purchase with your feet.

Bad luck, boatman. Good positive thoughts will no doubt help, much better than giving in.

I think the Marina was at fault. I'm pretty much stuffed at the mo as I can't weight bare on my foot for two weeks. Hopefully get some answers this morning at the fracture clinic. Thanks for the offer of help!

It's a reminder, though. We generally go through life without realising how very dependent we are on our bodies to do nearly everything automatically (cleaning our ears with cotton buds, and cutting our finger nails is something we have to do manually). Break a bone and we're done for. Break a finger nail and we're done for. Get an eyelash in our eye and we're done for. Safe boating everyone - always worth slowing down and thinking. We take many risks and get away with them, but one of them will get us one day. When you're out of action, you suddenly realise that the timetable you were trying to adhere to, just flew out of the window.
