Whats the advantages of running heating on kerosene over red diesel?
Heard kerosene burns leaner and thus hotter / cleaner and is also a few pence a litre cheaper?
Im just in the middle of getting an auxiliary tank fitted to my roof to feed my bubblestove / webasto, any truth in what I've heard and would these boilers need recalibration etc to run it?

I've never used Kerosene but have also heard that it is better for a diesel stove...not sure of diesel heater and yes, the bumf for my old Refleks said the regulator would need adjusting. meanwhile here's what Esso have to say on the matter they asked me how I knew it was esso blue, I of course replied with lower grades one buys smoke gets in your eyes

I have used kero in my bubble stove for years along with failed biodiesel it burns cleaner and hotter than diesel my whispergen used it as well. When i priced it a month ago it was 35p a litre including vat for kero against 52.9p for red diesel a substantial saving to say the least.[crown oils for a 1000 litres] I would always use it in preference to diesel as long as the price is right, I have no idea what webastos etc perform like on it but my bubble required no adjustment neither did the whispergen good luck

We used it all the Webastos on the hire fleet in the late 70s because it caused less breakdowns but note those burners were totally different to the ones used today so maybe not directly applicable.

One disadvantage of kerosene is that you can't get it on the cut or 99.9% of fuel stations. If however you have a tank over 500litres then delivery is an option. What type of boat do you have, any serious weight on the roof is not going to be good, unless your just installing a day tank? A day tank if less than 10 litres can be anywhere as they don't need venting outside (for bss) and can be filled up from another tank via a pump.

It's gonna be approx 60lt on the roof directly above my engine room....scumbled to look like a wooden storage box! I'll have to fill it via Gerry cans, but there's a place quite local so it's just a Saturday morn job!
