I wonder if anyone has ever made a canal boat with this system.
Might be the correct idea for a future of silted up ditches and broken locks - just barge through the whole lot of it.

I've seen a weedcutter with a screw on the back, rather than a propeller. (Although I suppose it could have been a single blade propellor with a DAR of about 4 )
