Nah, I reckon it's the roads not newts, that's not to say that newts aren't far more whinge worthy a higher and fancier steed to prance about on. Still, mustn't grumble eh! Oh, sorry forgot where I am....

re canoe and tent, in 1983 I took 2 mates, a canadian canoe and a kayak from Smithybridge to Sowerby Bridge and back, over 3 nights. Manpower services Job Creation Scheme were rebuilding the locks etc, it was still Rochdale canal co then. There was still a resident lock keeper at Summit lock keepers cottage, a little old woman who had been there for years, she rushed out, collared us and sold us some day permits, the first for years! I'd made a couple of folding cradles with pram wheels, good job too, because there were a couple of long stretches out of water due to the works. We camped 2 nights in the woods near Shaw Plains lock and one night near Brierley. The Monty looks a doddle compared to that!

What - one thousand views to get 1p? 100,000 views to get £1 ? Still, a million will net you £10, eh?
That was very worth while doing, making that. I do like timelapse videos of canals so we can see what's coming for ourselves.

Just found this, interesting for us as we shall be there soon. Was looking for nice pubs in Nantwich - came up with The Black Lion and the Farmer's Arms in Ravensmoor.

There is another one, of that big aqueduct taken the day before, plus lots of the BCN Challenge.
