Well, have spent a few hours plumbing today and have just finished with a successful result. The boat was built with the water pump under the floor of the galley units, 5m away from the tank, when my understanding is that pumps shouldn't be more than 3m from the tank. A couple of years ago I ran new heavier power cables in to the water tank and moved the pump to right next to it. Anyway, since moving the pump I've been meaning to tidy up the galley plumbing where the pump came out, and fit a Jabsco water filter to replace the (tedious to change) Whale inline unit, plus, I'd bought an accumulator to put just upstream of the pump. All the work has now been finished with no leaks and a much tidier layout under the sink, the accumulator works well and has smoothed out the delivery, and hopefully the pump will have an easier time from now on. I'm very happy that the new water filter is a spin on one and easy to change as the inline one meant disassembling the cupboard shelves and the plumbing fittings to change it. Knees are feeling it, but a sense of satisfaction at a job well done.👍😀

Well done. On the remote pump thing, I think it depends on the gauge of pipe vs pump flow rate. On the boat we used to borrow (57') the tank was in the bow but the pump was right at the back adjacent to the steps up to the semi-cruiser stern. It did seem a very odd way of doing it but I have to say it worked OK, pump wasn't that fast though.

I like it nice and simple, tank, valve, filter, pump and then accumulator if needed [mine doesnt need one] all in one place no hassle looking for things. I cant get my head around having things scattered all over the boat
