Having recently worked in Turkey for 6 years, based in Ankara, I found the culture quite secular. I am shocked to find the electorate voting to give the current president Erdogan (who is noted to be an Islamist) more, possibly ultimate, power.
Is Turkey going on a similar path (but in a different direction) in the same way as Russia with Putin at the helm?

I agree, the western eu countries are finally waking up to the concept that there are only so many impoverished thieves and beggars that you can invite into your home before everything you have gets stolen.
