We live quite close to one but would rather drive to b&q. Normally with the father in law on oap day. Some of their kitchens seem nice but only ever go there in an emergency. I have a choice - either spend an hour pushing a trolley up and down the aisles at B&Q that are full of thousands of products that I will never need, or go next door to Wickes where I can buy 95% of the essentials in 10 minutes, without queuing at the till behind ladies with wallpaper, plants and Xmas decorations, which always seems to involve a 5 minute discussion with at least 3 members of staff who could be running 2 tills instead. PS : Anything I can't buy at Wickes I can usually buy on ebay without having to search all the local DIY stores. Hear Him

If you have an independent builders merchant or hardware shop nearby use them.

I've burnt all sorts of smokeless fuels but the trouble is I really like the 10kg bags. Just so much easier to handle I know its not the best thing but I do ok with it I lug 25 k bags up a hill to my bins..moved bin from bottom of garden cos neighbour kept nicknig my coal.... if i brought 10k bags would have to walk up garden x 30 times to fill bins.... coal merchant moans about my bins..tis tough here at horror house....... ahhh, stop moaning young lady, it'll keep you fit. buy the 10kg bags, you'll get more exercise and less strain.

Exactly. a tonne of 10kg bags is much more comfortable to move than a tonne of 25kg bags I find. It takes longer to do it but you get a nice walk out of it and no unsafe lifting. I don't personally like lifting more than 20kg being a 10 stone beanpole ! Wickes did Homefire in 10kg bags a couple of years ago but changed to Brazier which is not as good but still fine and heated my barge comfortably all of the last two winters

Ah well sun shining...Rayburn out...

Thanks for that faffer. The 2pk thing sounds better. Also need to do one of my dinghies with same stuff as well as kayak. I have never used the 2pk but i believe that it requires careful measurements. It is strong foam when expanding and thats the gun grade type. Always leave a hole in the top where you have poured into the cavity this will give any excess expand out. Jut thought i would mention incase you dont know

I use a 3 wheel folding pram for coal and other things. Can carry 50kg comfortably. Was also good for wheeling my kids about when they were babies. £5 in a charity shop.

I'm an expert on expanding foam ...... I attempted to fill all the gaps here at Horror House with it......what I found was..... once u start using can it doesn't keep it doesn't need sustained 'hold' on the nozzle switch thingy.... its not something that should be in the hands of a D-I-Y woman I feel details not needed.....I will never ever ever ever buy anymore All of that lol. Brings back memories. The phrase sticks like **** to a blanket could be rewritten for the 21st century. Great fun welding vehicles where a previous owner has filled every rotting cavity as a base for filler. Seconds to apply, weeks to remove. Should be banned!

Never ever try removing excess expanding foam until it has dried...

It's the same for me wickes is a five minute walk but it just doesent seem to have the range. We've got a selco now for trade. My mate is a scaffolder. They accepted that and I am now a card holder but i have not done any diy since joining. The joys of a brand new property I suppose. When we buy a house I will probably be In all three of them. A lot

I have to 100% agree with that. Morso when you find a blob on your head about the size of a golf ball, getting bigger while i let it set so i could get it off. Good job i dont have much hair as all i could do was shave my head to get it off. Didnt fancy washing my head in acetone to remove it before it set. It is horendous stuff but great at the same time.
