Hi all I have some tins of Wicks expanding foam and i am having difficulty in finding out if it is closed cell. The one i have been using is but i have run out of that and near finished the job at hand but for the need for about 3 more tins. The specs does not say either way. Does anybody know if it is open or closed cell foam ? This is the one www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Expanding-Foam-Filler-750ml/p/109746Cheers Wayne

Don't quote me but I believe it's more open cell and will absorb water.
But I may be wrong.

Wickes is crap, it's the equivalent of Poundland, fine for an ephemeral fix but no genuine builder would ever buy anything there apart from aggregates.

They do a good deal on Brazier smokeless coal at Wickes. Never really tried anything else but did buy about 100 of the 10kg bags of Brazier last winter.
Not a diy product to be fair.

I'm an expert on expanding foam ...... I attempted to fill all the gaps here at Horror House with it......what I found was..... once u start using can it doesn't keep it doesn't need sustained 'hold' on the nozzle switch thingy.... its not something that should be in the hands of a D-I-Y woman
I feel details not needed.....I will never ever ever ever buy anymore

I'm not aware that TP is a cheapo outfit. Of course a 'genuine builder' won't shop there because they do not AFAIK offer trade discounts.

Normally with the father in law on oap day. Some of their kitchens seem nice but only ever go there in an emergency.

Where is the best place to buy expanding foam which won't absorb water?
I had been thinking about putting some in foe buoyancy in my kayak but obviously don't want it to soak up water !!

I've been having a look online and not a single one said if it was closed or open. Tries to get scientific and look at density bit they don't tell you that either.

Brazier is probably the most lacklustre coal going, if you compare it with a decent brand you will realise its not good value at all.

I've burnt all sorts of smokeless fuels but the trouble is I really like the 10kg bags. Just so much easier to handle I know its not the best thing but I do ok with it

I have a choice - either spend an hour pushing a trolley up and down the aisles at B&Q that are full of thousands of products that I will never need, or go next door to Wickes where I can buy 95% of the essentials in 10 minutes, without queuing at the till behind ladies with wallpaper, plants and Xmas decorations, which always seems to involve a 5 minute discussion with at least 3 members of staff who could be running 2 tills instead. PS : Anything I can't buy at Wickes I can usually buy on ebay without having to search all the local DIY stores.
