The worst of this story is that when you phone them you are connected to a robot who days the only way to contact the compsny is to e-mail them as they are all working from home....ALL! not even the chance of online chat. Other companies have managed to circumvent this position by directing phone calls to the various agents via IT wizardry, it is the 21st century after all. I was only able to find an appropriate e-mail address by phoning an underwriter and getting the e-mail address from them. Still, all sorted now. Phil

Chris should have been off on her cruise, however we rebooked for next year taking advantage of a decent discount and extra onboard spend. The only fly in the ointment was the single trip insurance at a cost of Β£272, I asked to have the dates amended and the price gouging swines said OK but it will cost an extra Β£316!!!! The total is now Β£588 for 15 days to the exact same cruise location. I told them to stuff it and shopped around to secure the same deal for Β£97 so they will refund me only 50% of original premium but it will still be cheaper than their original quote and shed loads cheaper than the subsequent quote. I had a word with WHICH as they are campaigning against price gouging during the Covid 19 period. Phil Where r u going?..Ive been trying to get the rest of my years insurance refunded but they won't answer emails or the phone So I won't be insuring with them again..I also informed them no automatic renewal....suspect they'll try and ignore that as well

Patty, I shall be staying here to look after the fur babies while Chrus travels with her sis. The cruise takes in Portugal Spain and the Canaries and Azores . Yes they are extremely difficult to get hold of unless you are booking, can't imagine why ππ I suspect no reply to e-mail yet because they are dealing with shed loads of people cancelling. Keep trying and good luck. Phil

Phil sounds nice cruise..I didn't like the Azores..if it goes and goes to the same place I went, I'd advise booking trip out.... my friend rang to-day full of gloom as his cruise looks set to be cancelled for later this year I'm not booking anything until i see how stuff is gonna pan out...I'd like to go to wildlife places, not many people just trekking and animals...

Are you going to be having any scum bling on the Josher type forward cabin?

Are you going to be having any scum bling on the Josher type forward cabin? Well actually... Im going to be doing a traditional scumble look to my framework plus a βHudson-esque over exaggeratedβ scum-bling with black caulking joints and βrealβ false rivet look on the roof.π

Sounds good. I remember seeing your scum bling before. It's okay actually. Not sure if you are using a comb or doing it the proper way with a cloth.
Nice to see it even though I would not be seen dead on a boat with that type of decoration.

Nice to see it even though I would not be seen dead on a boat with that type of decoration. I do mine using a comb to achieve βgrainβ, its difficult to achieve βsubtleβ grain, which IMO looks best, with combs tho! My cabin sides I did with a used varnish brush that was still supple but quite hard and useless for any other purpose, sharp, straight joints makes it look right despite minimal grain! Id love to see some examples of cloth scumbling, Id be happy to give it a try if I knew how to go about it! Got to agree...Benetti Super Yacht white fibreglass does look shite scumbled....good call there! π

Joey cabin taking shape nowπ Still a long way to go yet though, front access door to make and fully weld up, then paint / scumble and false rivet fitting. Still waiting for portholes and length of top 40x40 handrail to arrive. π

A lovely sunny morning although a bit nippy !!! Feel set up again for a few more days onboard after my "work" yesterday Lots of boats needing moving in order to get the LASH barge and tug out of the drydock and a barge in. Complicated by the fact that we had to leave a gap for the loaded tanker Swinderby to get past on it's way to the docks. The Lash barge is almost as wide as the drydock and hard work for the little yard workboat to shuffle in and out. It is now repaired and ready to go back to the docks where it is a store for the tug fleet. Next one in is Hiddekal to have prop, shaft, and tailshaft bearing replaced. (I told them that I reckon the Hepworth Gallery would put in an offer for that prop as a modern art sculpture ) some of these big engines do smoke a little on start up squeezing out past the gates tucking it to one side while they get the tug Pushette out and ready to get off with the barge before the tanker gets there and the next one in !!! Together with her new style propeller
