The Rochdale canal is now open from Manchester to lock 15 (landslip). The leaky culvert carrying the Roch under the canal at Summit has been fixed.

I wonder what the movement of boats is like between Lock 15 and Salterhebble. Is there anyone actually on the go?

Morning Mr Fox, you are the official thunderboat boat monitor for that side of the hill, I've been working on mine at the east end of summit, nothing moving up there apart from the workboat that was there to fix the leak.

I can report in just over 2 weeks' time when we get there. I can have a natter with the guys at Tuel Lane lock.

I went from Sowerby Bridge to Lock 12 (as far as I could go at the time) by boat last weekend, and saw a total of 7 boats moving, 3 of which were Shire Cruisers. I understand that all 7 of the Shire boats still based at Sowerby Bridge will be going up to Hebden this weekend.

I thought there were just 6 boats remaining. If they are short boats, it would be a bit like The Seven Dwarfs!
I noticed the trees along the river Calder are still decorated with litter & flotsam & jetsam. 5 months and no-one has had a go and cleaning them. As with the partially collapsed building on the south side of the river by the basin - what a mess, and no-one is doing anything about it.

It was Billy the Lockie mentioned he was expecting 7 boats.
I saw some activity at the building you mention about a month ago, but it's still open to the elements.
