They look OK and have "caperlan" printed on the side. Size 45 so just about right. If someone will volunteer to pay the air fare I'll get over there and help Peter out

That's good you have things under control. Its reassuring to know that some people can achieve this.

I know nothing about the Eurostar, in case you wonder, I don't come from Barcelona, but the train from Bercy to Sens is a direct train and takes only 57 mins, no stops between Bercy and Sens. Peter.

Somewhat over-long video. I walked over both bridges this afternoon:

Why would anyone that's going to Sens take another train that does this trip with all these stops and need more than 1h30mins ? One big advantage of the Bercy train is that if you find a seat for yourself with possibly some nice co-travellers, you won't be disturbed with all the possible noisy- and maybe even most unpleasant new co-passengers that bord the train at one of the stops underway, as there are no stops between Bercy and Sens. Peter.

I think that would be a good way to soak into the atmosphere of France, to take a 'normal stopping' train, to mingle with the locals. As for "most unpleasant new co-passengers", would that be a reference to "Merkel's Children"? (the 'peaceful' lot who rampage round Paris burning cars). Yes, I do like trains. Interrailing round France would be something I'd like to do. I should like to get to know France a bit, visit vineyards and sample cheeses. I've been to Paris a few times and liked it very much, last time was about 8 years ago so perhaps by now the 'Jungle Residents' have wrecked it; certainly the Romanian gypsies had spoiled the safety of tourism already then. There is a quote I can't quite remember, can anyone here help out? About the journey being as important (or more) so than the destination. It starts: "It is better to..." and implies that the destination may not be quite what you were looking for, and by concentrating only on getting there you've missed a lot to see and do on the way. An interesting holiday would be a month by car driving round France looking and getting to know the waterways.

I once took a stopping train with my family from Paris to Dijon (grandparents + relatives of the mum live there so we visit Dijon fairly often). The seats in the train were really comfy. Much nicer than the TGV. I think it was a TER. And the slower speed was more relaxing. HS rail is good but I find it a bit too fast personally.
