In today's News:
"A teenage girl has become the latest victim to be murdered on London's streets amid a deadly crime spree which has gripped the capital. The girl, 17, was found by police with a gunshot wound at 9.35pm having in Tottenham (centre), and died in the street at 10.43pm. Scotland Yard told MailOnline that her killer is still on the loose. On yet another day of carnage on the streets of London, a 16-year-old boy was left fighting for his life after being shot in a separate incident less than two miles away in Walthamstow, East London (bottom left). A 17-year-old boy was also stabbed and critically injured. The streets of London are now more deadly than New York, with the capital recording a higher murder rate for the first time in modern history in February. The past two months of bloodshed in London have overtaken New York's murder rate as Scotland Yard battles a 38 per cent surge in killings since 2014, with 47 deaths recorded already this year. Fifteen people were killed in London in February, compared to 14 in New York. And the trend looks set to continue, with 22 killings in London in March - one more than the city on the other side of the Atlantic, where urban violence has long been prevalent."
"London's problem stem from a weak Mayor, an invisible Police Commissioner, a crime investigation process bogged down in paperwork that's more concerned with statistics than arrests, a criminal justice system that is out of touch with the concerns and needs of the public. What is called for is firm leadership (not PC management) and streets with a visible police presence using stop and search. If you take care of the criminals the statistics will take care of themselves."
"These thugs are allowed to roam our streets with complete impunity, they don't fear the law, and why should they? the sentences passed down are a complete joke. A few year's ago, amid a big fanfare, it was announced that anyone caught carrying a knife could expect 10 years in prison, I'll leave you to guess just how many have received this punishment....."
