Mostly I go into them nowadays to buy/take in books. When I worked as a roady/engineer I used to buy dinner jackets/suits (as they were working gear and I used to get through them quite quickly) When you look at them in charity shops they usually have only been worn maybe once or twice.

I like browsing through the men's shirts as there's a much more varied selection than you'll find in any shop, and you can just flick through them until something catches your eye. I like going through the books too. I reckon it'd be impossible to find a decent pair of Levi jeans in a charity shop, though. My last purchase from a charity shop was 4 little glasses for drinking (whisky?) and a large book of Yorkshire from the Air, in which Castleford appears, and you can see the Rivers Aire, Calder, and the navigation.

Hooked on visiting them. I love the books, but Jane looks for bargains. Only Saturday at Lymm she bought a Jaeger cardigan (angora and cashmere) a scarf and a book for £7. Made her very happy, and the money's going towards good causes. Win/win Rog

I hate them, horrid memory's of being a teen and the old man buying me clothes from them, sending me to school in second hand trousers..
Git could still afford his beer at the weekend.

It depends where you go. I have recently had a decent pair of black 501s and a pair of Lee Cooper black jeans my size for £6 and £2. A lot of the Levi stuff gets bought up and ebayed but it is still possible to find stuff if you time it right. Probably a bit random really. I'm 32 waist pushing 31 so may be a size people tend to grow out of.

50p would have been about right, I thought it was a dog bowl. That's why I think it's funny. Man gets told what to do. Dog gets told what to do. Dog bowls are usually stainless steel. It's very naff like most things in charity shops but it appealed to my sense of humour on several different levels. I'm not going to use it for eating.

and the money's going towards good causes. 'relief' for some in poor countries. It was Age UK. "relief" for old fuckers. Don't get me wrong I hate charity in a big way and the "good causes" side of it has no influence on me at all I just don't understand the point of buying new clothes. Being able to buy secondhand clothes does rely on other people buying new clothes but that's not my thing at all. Clothes. Another basic essential annexed by capitalist scum like Philip Green. Karma will get him. Nasty people like that get what's coming in the end. It's fair enough being a successful businessman and making money out of other people but shitting on them afterwards? Deserves to die a horrible painful death IMO

Love charity shops.I frequently visit 2 99p clearance shops where they send stuff which hasn't sold. There is some rubbish but quite a lot of stuff hasn't sold as it's been priced too high.Latest bargain was a brand new Joseph Turner 100% cotton shirt priced at £6.It's still on their website reduced to £33 from £66.Not bad for 99p.😊
