Well, I got this snap so I'm...um...er... "pleased as punch" or maybe "happy as Larry". Will post more pics on the Facebook page later, riding on the railway today and signal a bit hit and miss. stonking photo, exactly as you wanted. well done. I wonder if that is setting the standard fornthe comp this year.

It's not a very high quality piece of video but it might be of interest to some.
I'm now at the end of the Caldon. I'm not going through Froghall tunnel, I failed the loading gauge test by a fair few inches, and although I could probably get the front of the boat down sufficiently if I returned to Consall and filled the water tank, pumped out some diesel to raise the boat at the rear and moved all of the bags of coal onto the gas locker and front deck, as Homer Simpson says "If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing".
Off up the Leek branch next but not sure when.

I wonder if that is setting the standard for the competition this year. As regards the photo competition, as Martin has defected back to the Old Folks' Home, if no-one else wants to arrange it, I don't mind having a go - it can't be that hard. Although I would insist on 'my rules' - that the photo has had to have been taken with the competition in mind (ie. deliberately taken to make Thunderboat look like it has its finger on the pulse), and taken this year (2018), no old dusty snaps from Aunty Beatrice's attic. Stabbers' pic would certainly have to go in it somewhere - surely not 2 years running as the cover photo??!!

Well, it's a snap rather than a professional photo but I don't mind it going into the voting stages, or being in the calendar should that be deemed desireeable (see what I did there? ) so long as it is used for the month of May.

Ah but, you need to have used filters, a tripod and a SLR for that.

Ah but, you need to have used filters, a tripod and a SLR for that. It qualifies as it doesn't have a stupid finger obscuring the lens.

I had the unofficial version of Thomas painted on my car... Back on topic, a short move back to Cheddleton today and I'll probably get a few more trackside photos of the CVR which is running tomorrow, Sam may be able to get up for a few days next week but I won't know until Thursday so I'm probably going to stay fairly local until I do because of the logistics of meeting him somewhere. If he can make it I'll probably have a go at trimming the boat so it fits through Froghall Tunnel and we'll have a go at that.
