We've taken on diesel at Hainsworths immediately above Bingley 5 rise.
80 litres which cost £73.60.
First time I've paid a 60/40 split, but it was done before I realised, and compared to Apperley who charge 96p per litre base rate, it's still cheaper (92p per litre inc tax).
Nice place, pleasant bloke and I would go again.
We're home for the weekend, but on Monday we fancy visiting Bingley theatre.
There are off side moorings below the three rise, outside Damarts factory shop and car park. A bit noisey due to the busy road, but for one night it seems the nearest spot to town.
Has anybody stayed on those rings (3 day moorings apparently)?

Thanks, that's just the spot.
Apart from road noise, was it an okay mooring?
Were you there several nights?

You'll notice there's a path both sides. On the Damart side there were fewer joggers/walkers. It did not feel unsafe. I think from the town no-one has a need to go along the Damart side. We were there 2 nights - left the boat there all day whilst I ensconced myself in Gargrave's church tower to take pics of the bells, and Pirkko went to Settle.
We walked around Bingley and discovered it's best feature was a Co-Op.
No problems. We were the only boat there. The L&L was deserted last Summer, we kept wondering where everybody was. Only 3 boats down the Bingley rises that day (it was a Sunday when we arrived).

Thanks.
There's a Noel Coward comedy on at the Little Theatre we may go to.
I think this canal is always quiet, but that's definitely not a complaint.
Pity it's not a little deeper.

Rog you should try it in a wide beam it deffo wants to be deeper!! Nice cafes in Bingley and I have just paid 80 p a litre for my bio diesel. The problem is at the moment that diesel seems to be going up daily at the local Morrisons sign of times to come I am afraid

Those moorings are okay, but a bit noisy as you point out, personally I'd stay above the locks and have the extra walk home.

I've had two or three days moored there on two separate occasions and at no point did I encounter anyone who required stabbing.

But it's Bingley Five Rise festival this weekend, so the moorings are stuffed. We'll see what the situation's like on Monday. There's no obvious heavy blood staining around the bottom moorings, so I guessed Stabby had not encountered problems Rog

The shelf at the top (and water levels dropping over night) does rather mean that unless you leave ropes REALLY slack and push your boat about 2 foot out from the side, you end up wedged on the shelf anyway... I'd plumb for the noisier bottom like foxy.

I can't say we even noticed the noise of the traffic there. The wall reflects the morning sun so the boat warms up pretty quickly.

We're back Monday, and will be mooring at the bottom (hoping there's space) and going to the theatre (hoping there's tickets). Then push onto Saltaire Tuesday to visit the Hockley gallery. Hope this great weather continues. Rog

I used to enjoy mooring above hirst lock near the woods, until they lowered the level of the whole east end of the L&L so it became impossible to moor there.

Really quite bizarre. It's in the shop/area where they have all kinds of kitchen utensils.
