As there is a thread about a marriage on here already (an event that interests me even less than not at all) I thought it only right to start one about the wendy ball FA Cup final, an event that somehow seems to be perfectly matched with it. It's a pity they couldn't have held the Eurovision the same day too for a pointless triple. I am quite happy that those who enjoy these events should have a wonderful time, it's just the almost enforced involvement I find annoying. Ah well, it'll all be over by christmas Rog

There's also the plane crash as an alternative to the wedding, and erupting volcanoes in Hawaii. Let's face it, that plane crash was only a matter of time: Cubana Airlines - customers say: "so we had to go to their office in Havana, which was chaotic to say the least and the staff were rude." "We went to see the Cubana manager in his office, and he was rude and did not care that we were stranded." "Never again! Avoid like the plague!" "Cubana Airlines is the worst airline I ever flew with." "I will never again fly with Cubana and can't recommend this company to you." "Cubana Airlines is the most horrible, unprofessional airline I've seen in my life!" "We board the plane after 1.30 hours delay to find the plane so dirty and smelling. After 1 hour of flight, the captain announces there's a problem with the wing ne and we have to go back to Havana airport!" "They should be taken out of commission, not safe, not friendly, poor service, old planes. Just happy to be alive! Do yourself a favour, if you are debating on booking with Cubana like I was, don't!!!" -yet, many did, and are now dead: www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5746787/Horrifying-video-shows-chaos-wreckage-Cuba-crash-killed-110-three-survivors.html

FA reminds me of that old TV series hosted by Jimmy Tarbuck 'Winner Takes All'. We used to call it 'Winner Takes Fuck All' as the prizes were shit. He's from Liverpool, so I guess that explains it.

Technically, there is a football team I support, really just because my Dad supported them I suppose. He even took me to see them a couple of times in the 1960s, but when he asked me a third time I told him I had to stay at home to watch some paint dry. But they are still, I suppose, my team. I follow them to the degree that I sometimes know roughly what division they are in.
They played in two consecutive FA Cup finals, they lost the first one but won the second one, the only time they have ever won the FA Cup final. From that snippet of information, which internet researcher here can name the team?

Wrong shaped ball for me I'm afraid I've got shares in Stockport County (Inherited from my Grandfather) for sale, if anyone's interested in buying into a fooolsball club.

As a little piece of trivia, my Dad used to watch Charlton Athletic in the 1930s and he said the players would quite often travel back from games on the same tram as the supporters. They were held in high regard, and earned twice as much as a typical factory or office worker's wage at the time.
