I've posted about this before. Here is the improved set up. The slide platform and swing A frame were perfect to hold the 15kg bottle upside down. The towel and sun heating up the bulk cylinder and the water bath cooling the receiving cylinder made it a much quicker process. You could hear it steadily pouring in. Took about 20 minutes in total. Not going to argue about 20 grammes!

Those little bottles cost a fortune!!! I refilled propane bottles for years for the same reason Cheeky bastards should charge per kg not cylinder size, I mean you don't pay extra per litre of petrol to fill a Honda 50 tank! We can't fit anything bigger in the gas locker so are tied to that size.

I tried to quote JohnV but got those weird vertical characters. The lack of space meaning expensive small cylinders are the only viable option offsets the need to lug about heavier cylinders

Now geared up for Propane. The hose is rated to 20 bar, a full cylinder is around 16 bar. They are gutted adjustable regulators, the one with the outlet 90Β° to the POL fitting was very good quality, it had a flashback arrester in it that needed removing - it was originally used with a propane burning torch like roofers use. The end result. Underfilled by 63 grammes on some pretty accurate scales. Note the pikey reappropriation of a butane cylinder by Calor! It shall be returned to mouse to make sure his cider is nice and cool π¨π’π»π
