We'll be on our way very soon, but for future reference I have to say what a terrific venue Leeds is to visit by boat.
Right up there with Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and even London.
Terrific atmosphere, loads to see and do and all accessible from the moorings very easily.
A particular mention has to go to the four alleyway pubs behind the shops on Briggate, one of the main shopping streets.
The Ship, The Angel, The Nags Head, and my favourite Whitelocks (John Betjeman called it the "heart of Leeds").
Worth a visit for their historical value even if you don't drink.
The Leeds and Liverpool is hard work in places, but utterly stunning and well worth the effort.

Whitelocks is a bit touristy but worth a visit, you can get a good cheap pint in the angel. I really like the market in leeds.

I wasn’t expecting much, whilst I’m sure it’s a lovely city, the people are a bit Northern.

I find northern people more friendly. Years ago when I briefly lived in Loughborough while attending university a bloke addressed me as "me dook" (my duck), and he had a wife !!
