This is for Patty I watched a snippet on Sky News where a chap was suggesting we stop trying to eradicate Knotweed but instead put it to culinary use. Stew it like rhubarb, make it into mousse, make Knotweed crumble etc etc. I can vouch for the rhubarb flavour as we had a garden full of the stuff next door and we used to chomp on it. Strangely enough it never encroached on our garden. So Patty.....get cooking Phil

Strangely enough it never encroached on our garden. So Patty.....get cooking Phil I have many skills but donning apron and sweating over hot Rayburn to transform knotweed into edible delights is not on my CV.... Swansea could become the culinary capital of the world with the amount of the dreaded weed growing here... Instead of the leek, knotweed could become an emblem and adorn flags... However i think I'll subscribe to 'not in my backyard thank you' ..but should any visitors to the area wish to partake of the 'weed' there is a large patch still flourishing untouched/untreated in the far corner of next doors field plus a plantation just up the road. The man who suggested not irradiating is quite welcome to come and see this area for himself. The nearest small towns kerbsides has masses of the stuff A small amount is perhaps usable for food but large areas overwhelming. I wonder how much he has growing in his garden, whether his house value is affected, whether he was able to get a mortgage easily.. I treated an area around my property as per dictates of mortgage companies in order to protect the value of my house...the rest beyond that is untouched. It does not grow in my garden but there is always the danger that it will infiltrate if its allowed to grow unchecked....I hate it...
