Whilst I am not a homophobic, I do believe that gay people demanding recognition of their own rights and beliefs should not set about undermining others. It works both ways. Thankfully a bit of common sense from over the pond for a change. link

I'm all in favour of gay marriage. Why should only straight people be miserable?

It's a bit of a can of worms really, although I do think a business owner has the right in certain circumstances to decline trade where he disagrees with the message which the customer wants to promote. As an example, lorry trailers sometimes carry paid advertising. If I was still running a truck and was asked to livery trailers with the message "Donate money to help Calais refugees" then in view of the enormous problems caused to truck drivers by said refugees, then I would refuse to do it.

IIRC they only ordered the cake and chose the words to cause a fracas in the first place. This kind of pushing for the sake of it is at the heart of everything that's caused a P.C. backlash. What's the odds that at the bottom of this pile is a gay rights activist who's making a nice living from running a gay rights charity and has to look for trouble to prop up his position.

ISIS Jihadis use their religious beliefs to justify murdering thousands of innocent people including children. Presumably you think that is fair enough? Or is it just your subconscious homophobia that makes you think these two cases are different? If you go into business as a baker selling to the public, you have to sell to everyone. Including blacks, Jews and yes even gays. End of.

Surely "murdering thousands of innocent people, including children" and "declining to decorate a cake" are different? Melodramatic, much?

The mostly deliberate failure to recognise the difference is the problem. I blame the parents.

I’m sorry that you can’t see that the principle is the same. Clearly those two scenarios are poles apart in consequence, but what happens when we move nearer the middle? At what point, in your view, is it OK to justify your bigotry, prejudice and other discriminatory behaviour using you imaginary god?

Sounds like you struggle to deal with others views and opinions, so chuck your own dramatic scenario in to bolster your bluster. It's a free world we are constantly told, which means I and others can choose to refuse to deal with things that are not to our liking, or beliefs. I respect your choice of lifestyle, but I can freely hold and voice my opinion on it. Calling me names for doing so says more about you than I.
