The most clever by far, with a lasting effect, has to be GPS. That is almost science fiction. If we ever have a massive solar flare that knocks out satellite systems I hate to think how many people will be wandering around totally lost some folks can get lost with a sat nav...... I don't need solar flare... I just ignore as rubbish wot it says...

Construction....and I guess in that case must include screws...though I must prefer to wallop with a hammer than try to use a screwdriver

The great thing with GPS is you can get lost much more accurately. I find it good when its just me but if I'm in car with woman the gps just causes aggrevational situations to arise.

An inherent sense of direction and place.

Many years ago swmbo had a serious iron deficiency, her sense of direction was amiss. So maybe we have a bag of nails in our heads?
