I don't see any report of water in houses, the fire service report states there is none and there is no risk of it.

I'm not, I'm saying its a disgusting way to treat an historic waterways network. Nowhere in the world is there a canals/waterways system like this in England/Wales. Isn't English Heritage or The National Trust or some Historical Society even a teensy-weensy bit concerned? It's a national scandal. But then Beeching and Marples got away with destroying Britain's vast railway network. Beeching stuff is history, get hung up on that stuff and you will be considered part of it...
Off to my leaving BBQ, any further posts by me tonight should be taken with the understanding that a significant influence may be the cause...

Say they have 1000 reported leak or danger of leak on their records. Back in the day, it's not hard to imagine the local blokey would have prodded about with a stick and stomped some clay. Him being the first to go and look, no doubt armed ready with a barrow of clay and stick meant prompt action.
Now someone looks, writes a report justifying how serious they judge it on some scale and it goes into a queue, then out to a contractor who programs it in, maybe a site meeting, risk assessment, estimates...
That's progress. The direction for all sectors of human life is (if a robot/computer program can't do it) to replace skill and knowlege with processes so that pretty well any old twat van do any job and all arses are covered.

Then it's me that's got it wrong, with the help of the fire service. Funny that even in ghe article showing the flooded home(s) there are quotes "The situation was monitored throughout the incident and there was no risk to buildings or people." "There remains no immediate threat to nearby properties." I should remember - photos, or it didn't happen.

Then it's me that's got it wrong, with the help of the fire service. Until you can produce photographic evidence of no houses flooded then yes, you and those fireman chaps have got it wrong(maybe!)😉

It seems a bit wrong to call out the firemen for this sort of thing. Would be better if there was a dedicated service. Maybe call then the Watermen and replace CRT and EA water related functions with an emergency service. Staff to be selected on ability to deal with things.
