Just because everything today has been about the referendum, and I'm a bit fed up with it now, I'm going to post a thread about narrowboating. On Monday me and my boy (shouldn't really call him that, he's 18 next month) are going up to our boat, it's a three-hour drive and we don't do "early" so we should get there just after noon. She's moored about a mile from Rose Narrowboats on the North Oxford canal. We're going to do a few bits and bobs, then set off. We're planning to spend Monday night in Coventry basin. Tuesday morning we are going to set off towards the end of the Ashby Canal. We will probably be there Wednesday morning. Then we're going to wind and head back to the mooring. We'll probably be back there Thursday afternoon. On Friday I'm going to take my boy to Rugby in the car and put him on the train home, and I'm going to spend a month or so aboard, just cruising about. I don't know where yet. I'm not even sure if I will go home yet, I might look for a job up in that part of the world as I've closed my business down and someone is coming to buy my truck on Monday. If you see us, then say hello- we don't bite! We've met one Thunderboat member on the cut, although we didn't realise who each other was at the time, it wasn't 'til I posted the following week that he said "Was that you who crossed us at Curdworth locks?" Here's our wee Boaty Mc Boatface. She's old, but she's a cracking little boat, she's a Peter Nicholls. If you see us, say Hello!!!!

If you get up to Yelvertoft on the GU Leicester arm do say hi or pm me. Our boat is also a Peter Nicholls, with a RN DM2. Our local also has great real ale.

Desiree, here's our back end. Dead giveaway for telling a Peter Nicholls boat is the cut and welded Z shaped tiller.

You lucky git !!! envy you ........ I'm hoping to get back to wandering the waterways of the fens after I come out of hospital, I am allowing about a month of recovery time, I do hope that will be enough. I would like to have August and September on the yoghurt pot

Enjoy the time with your lad. Later you could do worse than cruise the BCN. We spent the winter doing the BCN challenge, very slowly. We loved it so much that we've come back to do it all again.

We moor on the BCN at Titford. We love both the old main line & the new main line. There is sooo much history around there & it's great to compare old pics with how it is now. Trina
