Woken up this morning by a cock. AKA a "morning glory". Q. What is the difference between "light" and "hard"? A. You can get to sleep with a light on.

We had a Muscovey duck just like this one that used to rock up every October and spend the winter on our (warm) side deck when we moored on the Broads, we called him Henry and he was so much part of the family that when we let the dogs out we just used to call "Dogs coming out" and he would step back from the door to let the dogs out. He would stay all winter with us and bugger off in the Spring You didn't moor at Loddon by any chance? Itook photo of one of these there in 2013.

A pair of Goldfinches have set up home behind our factory. Beautiful little birds.
The other weekend at Littleport I was serenaded late into the evening by a Nightjar, hopefully we will be treated to more of the same this Friday.

You didn't moor at Loddon by any chance? Itook photo of one of these there in 2013. We moored at Horninģ, there was a flock of Muscoveys that started from a pair that used to come down the hill from a farm. The upshot was that due to all the interbreeding they had a lot of Angel Wing between them. The locals all knew this but not the holiday makers who were always phoning the RSPCA who also knew about these birds and would explain that the birds were not in pain nor in need of intervention. There is a very large flock of Greylag Geese at Brundal that also have indulged in interbreeding a d again suffered a lot of Angel Wing. Phil

We had nuthatch on the feeders this morning moored by bridge 84 near Withnell Fold and the locks. Lovely bird and great to watch. I think I mentioned previously a lady once telling us she'd been watching a kingfisher on our feeder We guessed it would have been nuthatch, which are a sort of muted version. Rog
