I always get butterflies in my stomach when about to proceed on a boat journey which has any degree of challenge to it, or risk.
Today I took the yot from Limehouse to Brentford through the Pool of London. Despite having done this half a dozen times already in much worse weather I was nervous about it. As always it went perfectly not a hint of trouble and safely moored in Brentford.
I always get that worry feeling. Maybe everyone does.

I never worry when you take your boat out.

I think it's natural to feel anxious when doing summit with a degree of risk...especially if there a time gap between..minds tend to focus on what can go wrong When I first started tackling going over the Worms Head I had so many butterflies I nearly canned crossing but I made myself go every time..view so worth it...now after 19 crossings there are no anxieties..well maybe a tingle.
Whatever fears I have over some of the things I do I just try and set aside and get on with it...its not easy...

the only time I get anxious is when returning to the marina.
luckily last time our neighbours and the engineer were standing on the pontoon, managed to line it up and reverse in without hitting anything. first time.
doubt I will do that again. I have learned though if it doesent feel right or the wind as usual gets me I pull put and spin around and 're line up.
but info get butterflies and get all nervous when turning into the marina.

Someone I know had a partner in a sailing boat, he (the partner) was great at planning voyages, working out the passage plans, getting all the charts ready, preparing the boat etx ...... but every time at last minute he would drop out for some reason or another. It eventually dawned on my friend that his partner in the boat was just scared of going to sea and was bottling out each time. (I was quite happy about this as I kept being asked to stand in as a replacement )
