Arrived at top of the Wigan 21 at 7.40am to use services, having left Adlington at 6.20am (I know....alarm clock start to the day ) We were let loose on the flight paired with another boat, at 8.35am and Jane insisted on doing all the locks as it was so windy. C&RT staff were terrific again, with most of the locks set and open for us. 3hours 10 mins to get down the 21 was pretty good going, and despite the wind it was sunny and pleasant. The water level between the 21 and Poolstock locks was desperately low, and we dragged our way along, but made it. All 23 locks done in 3 hours 50 mins, and we cruised on to get Plank Lane bridge behind us too. Now moored by Pennington flash after an eight hour day, which is very rare for us. We'll be onto the Bridgewater tomorrow, and lock free (but for a stop lock) to Middlewich. The Leeds and Liverpool, Wigan to Leeds and return, has been fantastic, and it certainly won't be 12 years until we return. Thanks for all the tips everyone. Rog

Have you been to Malham Cove and Gordale Scar, you must if you haven't, they are just up the road from Gargrave. A woman being mauled by a fox? Is that a euphemism, leaving her with a rosy glow?

It's Foxy, he is missing his sauna. A good thrashing with a birch sapling might ease the withdrawal symptoms.
