Feeling totally gutted at the moment... We were supposed to be setting off for a 3 week cruise from our base on the Lark to explore the Nene, but alas, our car has decided to throw a rather large spanner in the works. Only just got it back last Friday having forked out a grand on rear suspension airbags and a front suspension arm (14 year old Merc e220 estate). All was well, ride transformed, and then today Debbie went to work, stopped the car and the dash lit up saying brake failure do not drive. It's the brake pump unit and a new one is another grand...π‘ Our savings have been wiped out over the last 12 months with constant shit going wrong and this is too much. I'll have to work overtime instead to pay for the bloody thing. Just hope nowt goes wrong with the boat now. Right, rant over, now feel a little betterπ€ Have to catch up with Gazza on his home turf another time.

Cars! The devils work aren't they. Our view is get the cheapest old banger (currently a 1.4 petrol Polo 21 years old) and run it as long as possible. Sorry for your grief. You'll look back and smile about it one day Rog

Oh man that's a bummer! I'll keep my fingers crossed it pisses it down continually and the Nene stays on SSA for the duration of your planned trip, it won't feel half as bad then!

Me too, I've only had three cars in the last 20 years and the one I've got now is 13 years old, the other two both ended up being sold to preservationists and still exist.

Say it quietly; Stabby has half decent taste in his current steer ππ» Actually, I preferred the last one. I owned this for eight years, paid Β£1,300 for it and sold it for Β£300, to a preservationist who had three of them already, but said this was the best of all of them. I only sold it because it had the usual 100,000 mile Jatco gearbox fourth gear fault and the belts all needed replacing again (a Β£1,000 job) and my mileage had increased significantly and it wasn't very good on petrol.

We've had the Merc 4 years and it's a great car, but it is 14 years and 132000 miles old. We couldn't afford to by another, it meets our needs perfectly and I'm now too much into it to get rid now. I'll get over the disappointment, and claw the money back eventually. We'll just have to have a shorter holiday later in the year... I've not had too much bad luck with cars, but it's all been in the last 3 years. Out of interest, what car are you driving currently, Gazza says you have tasteπ Bugger, posted this too late, you've now put a pic you of it up..π

However, it isn't taking too well to being unused for several months a year and I'm not sure how much longer it will last. If it has to go I might just buy a little motorbike next.

The car that should have been Rovers lifeline. The v6 ones whether Rover or MG badged are cracking cars
