Seems slightly paranoid! What “information” are you worried about? It’s only your name and addresss. If you don’t want that information publicly available to be sold to direct marketing companies etc (and who would?!) you can opt out of the “public” register. If you don’t register you can be fined in court up to £1000 and get a criminal record. Is it worth it? I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet about this sort of thing. I don't like being part of the system. Well I guessed that. But there is a school of thought that if you want to live in a democracy you have to play by the rules. There are plenty of countries where it isn’t a requirement to register to vote. In fact there isn’t any voting! Anyway, I guess the question is how much are you prepared to pay to satisfy your principles.

I don't like being part of the system. I'm with Nick on this, go for the edited register and opt out of the public register. GDPR means you have control of your information. Being on the edited register means you can do important things like vote 👍🍻 I've been part of the system (but opted out of the public register) for twenty one years, so far as I can tell I'm no worse for it, Google, PayPal, eBay, Amazon Asda and Barclaycard probably know more about me than my local government does.

The £1000 might be affordable, the criminal record can seriously screw up your life. For example, see this: www.getreading.co.uk/news/local-news/pair-fined-refusing-sign-up-4200256

it's been summed up. stay of the open register.
they will keep sending forms and eventually send a couple of non threatening bods who do ask quite nicely.

When I was a shore dweller (without a tv) I used to get threatening letters from the TV licencing whatevers ...... you must fill in this form and return it to.... etc. I used to fill it in with the biggest red felt tip I had, making it completely illegible .... and send it off ...... there is no law against having unreadable handwriting

mouse had a long running battle with the TV licence people. We had no TV either, despite repeated letters telling them this still the harassment continued. He wrote back to them asking them to stop wasting licence fee payers money on pointless exercises like they were pursuing. It did eventually stop. I didn't miss having an idiot lantern, always managed to be somewhere to watch the F1, I would watch Father Ted at me mates - that was about all I was interested in - I had to cave in and buy a TV and licence when Mrs Gazza moved in though

All that is on the Electoral Register is your name and address, it's not as if it contains detailed and potentially embarrassing information about your masturbation fantasies or anything.
