WTF are these so popular, I can understand inside but randomly waving them around outside in an attempt to reduce the UK fly population is insane!
The Mutt goes into paroxysms of fear every time she hears one go zap (presumably because they remind her of when she was mistreated with an electronic clicker) - temptation to put some very loud music on is getting overwhelming - 4hrs and the idiots are still waving the torture implements around !

I can guess what you're talking about, but I've never seen one.
What part of this sceptred isle are you in?
Perhaps you reside very near a sewage works.

I'm trying to keep cool about it. FFS there are even kids running around the dog walking area zapping endangered moths with the fecking things. Mutt still hasn't calmed down enough to eat and to top it all I've just been told off for letting the mutt into a 'lead only' area - well if others shut the fecking gate then she would not have been able to escape!
Any better...
Music turned up - sorry neighbours.

The only one to consider www.theexecutioner.co.uk/html/about.htmlI had 3 of em last year - one for work, one for home and one for the boat. Good quality batteries supplied with them too πΎπ»π¨π

What a pathetic way to kill insects.
I just use chopsticks.

Actually being serious if you want to kill a fly there are two basic options. Its no good trying to swat them from above as they will see the hazard and fly sideways near the surface. The movement of hand or other object downwards helps them out. You have to slowly put a hand each side of the fly when it has landed then clap hands together with a slight upward movement as the fly will see the hazard and attempt to escape upwards. Moving hands upwards takes care of this evasion attempt.
The other one is flicking. I have used this often as a way to deal with flies on tables etc. A quick flick with the finger knocks it out then grab it and show it the error of its ways by either crushing, drowning, eating or pulling wings off. Or give it to a bird to deal with.

No it was self taught from an early age. Then I was spotted by MI6 talent spotters and someone said "there's no flies on him" the rest is history

My dad used to 'clap' and stun flies..then he'd dispose of them...he seemed to get the timing right as he never squigged them... I use rolled up newspaper and whack..then tear the bit out with the squashed flies innards...makes attempting to read the paper interesting as there are sections omitted...hmm wonder if that was one of my 'irritating' traits that paved way to him finding another....
