I was sitting with a cup of tea earlier and a 50 ft cruiser stern pulled in behind me,the first thing I noticed was it was crewed by two beautiful ladies around 30 years old. After they got tied up,which I helped them do,I dont hang around,it turned out to be two girls based in London who were taking the boat up there for both of them to live aboard. They had purchased the boat up by Napton and had been working on it for a week or two and now completed and looking immaculate inside and out they were en route. They are now officially continuous cruisers and are going to move every fortnight, there is apparently a London boaters group on Facebook and they have been doing their research. It is a familiar tale of high rents, One of the girls runs a restaurant and the other is a designer and they are struggling financially to keep pace and this is their future home.Is it still possible to do as they are intending in London?has it not reached saturation point already? They seem to think in the end strength of number will defeat CRT and I am not so sure they are wrong.

Did you catch the name of the restaurant?

I'm sure I read on CWDF that there are only seven water points for the whole of London, so I guess that might be a bit problematic. Having said that, plenty of people do seem to be able to live in London as CC'ers. I believe CRT are becoming ever more vigilant about whether boats move in compliance with the requirements.

You know I wonder if thats really the case, because if the number keeps increasing I think confrontation or perhaps an accommodation may need to be reached.

Yes, I'm not sure. When I was crunching the numbers in preparation for buying my own boat, I reckoned I could buy £25,000 boats oop North, move them down to London and sell them for £3,000- £4,000 more for little more expense than two weeks of my time and a tank of diesel. If I wasn't committed elsewhere I would have started doing it.
