Thanks Mrstabby. Now that I’m on Scrote alert I’m wondering where to moor prior to taking a run through Stoke. Barlaston maybe?
Yes - you can moor outside "The Plume of Feathers with Neil Morrisey" The beer is pretty good, and there are posters and memorabilia which help you to learn all about what a decent chap Neil Morrisey is.
We had no scrote problems at all on our trip.

Funnily enough, when I used to do exhibition and promo work I knew a few girls who had worked with Neil Morrisey and without exception they all had the same story to tell, they went into the job rejoicing at their luck to be working with such a lush and fanciable man, and came out of it despising him and describing him as the most arrogant, egotistical self-important tosser they had ever had the misfortune to work with.

Barlaston's fine, there's a fairly well stocked convenience store there too right next to the canal. Anywhere on the left after the Plume of Feathers is good enough. Then it will be a moderate length day to Etruria, if you set off from there about 9 a.m. you'll be on the pretty bit of the Caldon by mid-day. It's compulsory to get this photo at Consall Forge. Mr Stabby along with the rest of us werw chuffed to bits with this photo 🍻👍

Caldon canal now closed due to water shortages at Hazelhurst lock. Well, from Monday anyway.
i think it’s time we all bought caravans and gave up on boating.

Too much information, froggy - but each to their own.
Meanwhile, back to the Caldon ......
It's a shame ianali won't be able to go beyond Hazlehurst. I like the way CRT are blaming heavy use of the T&M for the stoppage!!!
Perhaps we should all make a reduction in our licence payments next year commensurate with the waterways we have/haven't been able to use?

Ashby is still open, off i go tonight for a few days, lovely! Lots of people saying things like that on social media, how many would take it though if they did offer money back, where would it leave them financial next year...

Well, Ali and I have decided to sit tight in the pub for today and discuss possible reroutes. On the plus side we won’t be getting up early tomorrow to sneak through Stoke in stealth mode. Negatives so far is that the beer here isn’t cheap, also we think we spotted Neil and he didn’t look happy. plus side, moules were good. Beer is 5.9 proof and very tastey. Hard life.
