October 2017 they convinced me it would probably be in my interest to accept a nice offer made for my boat , I never had it up for sale but carts actions or non actions told me to take the money and save myself the coat of renewing licence ,mooring ,bsc and insurance and even blacking and new anodes that were needed , so after great eleven years I jumped ship , seeing the state of things this year I can only think I was rightselling.

Your taking too much notice of the doom and gloom merchants. We have had a wonderful year, up to Llangollen, Ellesmere Port, down the Monty. Up to Middlewich, off now to Braunston... it’s fantastic out here!

Well... yes...last one to turn off the lights and all that. Thought I'd make an effort.... but I'll get back to loading our Summer pics to Google Photos.... Hopefully sets One and Two ready by Saturday. Four sets in all.

A bicycle is MUCH cheaper than a steel box which keeps going rusty with everything on it. You can see the same scenery, but you can't sleep and cook in a bicycle. Anyone with a windlass can play with a lock if they like, I suppose.

The Future is already here for those stranded on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, and those either side of the Middlewich Branch Hole. And the Caldon Canal. And those who want to use Marple Locks. Oh yeah, and the Rochdale Canal. All 'ashed up' which would be funny if Sally Ash was still the Big Supremo.

Oh yeah, and the Rochdale Canal. All 'ashed up' which would be funny if Sally Ash was still the Big Supremo. visited both ends of the middlewich this summer. The Caldon was the only stoppage that really made us change plans. Not a problem though as we went elsewhere. There are lots of other options, always somewhere else to go. I realise the future doesn’t look to rosey, then again that’s true away from the canals as well. We are still loving boating and will continue to for as long as we can.

On 21st August Member 'duncan' said:
"Latest from the Canal and River Trust about the repairs to the breach near Melling on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal: CRT has completed the new culvert and rebuilt the towpath wash wall. They are now completing masonry and reinstatement works to the offside embankment, undertaking piling works and installation of lining and a new clay bed. Following these works, testing will be taking place to check for any leakages. CRT plans to open the canal to navigation at 11 am on Friday 24th August 2018"
Hooray! Hurrah!
