Does the forum need moderating ?
I quite like the fact it is not moderated but I sometimes wonder if this puts off people who would otherwise add content.
I am not at all bothered by insult and abuse (other than if it is kris having a go at me in which case I will cry) but some people probably do see all the general rudeness as a negative influence and don't bother despite the fact the forum is full of highly chip shouldered knowledgeable sweary boat owning weirdos.
What's it all about ?

No - I think the forum self moderates very well.
It is quite easy to ignore arseholes.

Just my thoughts. Oh and no we dont need any power hungry knobs watching over us, that would just bring another cull and then the forum would be dead.

Does the forum need moderating ? Self-moderating, yes. Cassandra-Nazi moderating, absolutely not! Perhaps it's because I put a tie on to go to work today and yesterday, instead of an open necked short sleeved shirt. There is the hint of Winter in the air now. Or perhaps I'm just having a funny turn.

I thought we were trying to reduce the use of offensive words like moderators ok !!!
don't even go there !!! it's the thin end of the wedge ..... just look at the sort of people who become moderators

Me thinks the only reason there is now a hint of suggestion that moderation should be allowed on this forum is because the truth is hard to swallow...by some..

Nail hit on head. Lack of content and new topics. The problem with topics is that they have all been done already. There are no new topics available. Maybe we could have competition who can start an original topic?

Generally it's a free for all but when the chips are down, or it's a techy thing that's all forgotten instantly and sensible discussion ensues. That's what I like about the place.

I just feel at home here.I've put a few replies up in the other place, but somehow feel like an interloper.Thunderboat is like the usual disfunctional family-sometimes we all get on,sometimes we argue, sometimes we are serious & sometimes we have a laugh. To me,what is great is that there are are so many people here who I'd trust to help/support me if needed.I know this sounds twee but that's how I feel.

Yep ..I agree.. Now and again threads get a bit profanity happy but they normally calm down...its just if newbies log on at that time I think it'd drive them away There is technical stuff introduced which seems to get answered by them that know with the usual swerving off course by them that don't ...its what makes this place so interesting.

I think what puts people off is the lack of technical talk . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In comparison with Arseholeworld there is a distinct lack of frivolous and inconsequential 'technical' talk on here. Whenever serious queries do get posted it seems to me that they're dealt with absent the usual torrent of irrelevant, ill-informed twaddle that tends to obscure or swamp any useful, sound stuff that's posted in response to such queries on CWDF.
