I think what puts people off is the lack of technical talk . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In comparison with Arseholeworld there is a distinct lack of frivolous and inconsequential 'technical' talk on here. Whenever serious queries do get posted it seems to me that they're dealt with absent the usual torrent of irrelevant, ill-informed twaddle that tends to obscure or swamp any useful, sound stuff that's posted in response to such queries on CWDF. That saved a fair bit of typing! Whole heartedly agree 🍻

There wouldn't be much point in having moderators here. Nobody would take the slightest bit of notice Rog

I think we all owe daft Daniel and his coven of so-called 'moderators' a considerable debt of gratitude, . . . without their efforts TB probably wouldn't exist !

Does the forum need moderating ? I quite like the fact it is not moderated but I sometimes wonder if this puts off people who would otherwise add content. I am not at all bothered by insult and abuse (other than if it is kris having a go at me in which case I will cry) but some people probably do see all the general rudeness as a negative influence and don't bother despite the fact the forum is full of highly chip shouldered knowledgeable sweary boat owning weirdos. What's it all about ? I think what puts people off is the lack of technical talk, lots of rants, name calling and general crap but when a technical question comes up it doesn't really go anywhere... Just my thoughts. Oh and no we dont need any power hungry knobs watching over us, that would just bring another cull and then the forum would be dead. Maybe you would like to provide a link to the interesting threads that you have started? Thought not, so stop moaning and think up something for people to talk about, if that's not beyond your mental capacity.

Nail hit on head. Lack of content and new topics. The problem with topics is that they have all been done already. There are no new topics available. Maybe we could have competition who can start an original topic? Moan moan moan, mind you I suppose a thread like this comes up every now and again.

A forum is what it's members make it. So rather than moaning about it, get off your arses and do something about it.

get off your arses and do something about it. Surely with the forum being internet based and accessed via computer, laptop or tablet, whos use are predominently 'sitting down' activities, you should be telling then to get ON their arses and do something? 🤔

Well lots of humans seem to be able to manage this.

Re. "technical topics" and the like, from a relatively new boaters point of view - granted, one that has a bit more brain power than many on the London face-ache group, I've posted my fair share of 'proper' questions - ... most of which have received valuable help, guidance and support where appropriate.... and with far easier reading than on the other side.
I don't feel the need for moderation because peer pressure tends to keep a good enough grip on things anyway.

That's the thing with the phone. No need to be sedentary.

Actually, have been rummaging about for train tickets. It is cheaper to buy 3 tickets seperately from Manchester Airport to Manchester Piccadilly, then Piccadilly to Stafford (via Stoke-on-Trent), and then Stafford to Penkridge, rather than one ticket from Manchester Airport to Penkridge. So three times the amount of trees need to be cut down to save us 80p each, we don't care.
Just bought our plane tickets for our October trip, nice price and suitable times, direct from Finnair (who operate the planes): Kokkola - Helsinki - Manchester.
There's a Sainsbury's at Piccadilly if we have time to waste there, for shopping. Or should we nip in to Tesco's in Stafford, or the Co-oP in Penkridge....
