Sure many of you will have seen/ heard about the boat damaged at Rugby Wharf when a tree fell on it-it has a lot of damage.Folk on the other place have been taking the mick with tree type jokes.I have posted my displeasure & am now waiting for the sarky comments. If we did that here,we'd be called all the nasty names under the sun !

Folk on the other place have been taking the mick with tree type jokes. I find it ironic that someone called treena started this thread.

Jane's recurring nightmare, being crushed by a tree.
She hates the wind at home, but on the boat she's mortified.
We're in the arm at present, and a tree split with such a crack.
Luckily it fell out into Birmingham Road, missing any pedestrians. Ian had it cut and sorted within an hour.
Any sort of wind forecast, and we have to be out in the open or she doesn't sleep.

I have always been nervous about the wind because in the 87 Mike El Fish hurricane trees fell everywhere including on our house and on my shed and a neighbours car which was squashed flat by an oak tree. And my dinghy was blown away. All very worrying and being 13 at the time it stuck in my head. One day 6 mature trees in garden next day just 1. I never moor near dodgy looking trees if its windy.

Some years ago we arrived at Norbury junction on the Shroppie, and whilst taking on diesel the yard hand appeared to take great delight in recounting to Jane, how a lady on a cruiser stern hire boat had been hit by a falling tree as she cruised by, a few days earlier.
You can imagine how reassuring Jane found his tale. I believe the lady suffered multiple fractures.

A boat called No Problem which is an ex Black Prince that used to be owned by the blogger.
Massive damage to the cabin. I would think it could be an insurance write off.
Bad enough when it's your boat, but when it's also your home, it must be gut wrenching.

A boat called No Problem which is an ex Black Prince that used to be owned by the blogger. I've read that blog sometimes in the past, and 4 years ago No Problem was parked in Banbury near Sovreign (check sp.) Wharf and I walked past it a few times. That's bad luck. We avoid parking by trees in the wind, for that very reason. Looking after a 3 year old and 7 year old on my own this evening, vegetable fingers in the frying pan as we speaketh. I've got them occupied building a Brio train track right round the apartment.

The husband of someone I trained with created a railway track that ran through the upstairs of their house..he even made tunnels through bedroom walls. She was not amused...I often wondered as we lost contact over the years whether their marriage lasted.

I often wondered as we lost contact over the years whether their marriage lasted. It was probably 'on the rails' from the beginning.
