By Mike Wackett 27/09/2018 The UK’s two biggest container ports appear to have hit crisis level. UK retailers potentially face weeks of delays in getting their Christmas stock onto the shelves in time for the peak consumer spending rush. Moreover, UK exporters to Asia can virtually forget about getting containers shipped in November, due to carriers blanking a huge 11 eastbound voyages next month. And many of those sailings that survive will be ‘cut & run’, without loading, due to the congestion at Felixstowe and Southampton. theloadstar.co.uk/felixstowe-box-congestion-spreads-southampton-just-time-xmas-rush/

Stuff can come by train straight from China via Russia and the Channel Tunnel. Alternatively 50% of the UK population could be dragged off to China and dumped there so they can be closer to the plastic crap. PRC = Pisspoor Rubbish & Crap.

Life without goods from China. I wonder how many things we would miss? I suppose quite a lot more than one might think.

Stuff can come by train straight from China via Russia and the Channel Tunnel. Only if the containers are transhipped at the Russian border, the rails are too far apart for UK-spec trains.

Just read the link ...... does seem a bit Southeast centric ....... doesn't mention other very large container ports, Grimsby and Immingham on the East coast and the Mersey on the West, it also doesn't mention London Gateway which also has quite a large capacity although it is still not up to it's intended maximum size

Because that must be the reason. Or it will be soon. But why should we care if the economy collapses, there'll be no migrants to share our poverty or boost our gdp, as they do. Anyone fancy having to pay another 2.5k for a car? Rant over, off to play at the circus, starting a new show, "For the Benefit of Mr Kite". About the history of Circus in Rochdale. I'll let our resident googler explain the link between those two facts.

To they'll need more storage here. So it won't be economic. So the factories will move to Romania. In the EU. Still, no migrants eh? We'll be poor, but we'll be happy. Eating gravel oft'road. They'll be the days.

So nothing to do with the fact that the minimum wage in Romania is 407 euros a month then?

We export more cars than we import, most of the Jap stuff has parts made in Japan, so I am sure the parts will be arriving at Northern ports just as normal, and eventually all the content of the cars will be from Japan/UK. What you should be worried about is that we export more medicines to the EU than we import so they will be running short Although I have heard their will be a shortfall in Viagra!! I thought the problems with the southern ports was expansion to deal with all the imports from the rest of the world when we stop buying crap from the EU as they say as one door closes another opens, and I am looking forward to South African Oranges being cheaper than crap Spanish ones

I've not noticed any thing different in the port recently. I'll ask some of the carriers during the week.
I did notice a container shop go out the other day looking a bit light and did wonder.
one of the main entrances into the port has a roundabout on it and is having 6 months ofroad works while they rebuild the road.
that is going to cause carnage as all the hgv will be re directed around unsuitable roads. it will be carnage.and I have to negate it everyday to work and if we go out anywhere.
