It's 5 or 6 years ago we were last at Heck. As I recall it had subsided making it difficult for the tankers to get through even with there hydraulic wheelhouses. Was anything ever done to repair it?

Rather than start a new thread, I thought I would continue this one !!! The "Selby Doris" has been moved back up to the Dog and Duck at Goole and the crane barge "Bartholomew" brought back to the Hull river. It was done in one day but it was a rare marathon. We had the tug/workboat "Jet" with us as escort in case of problems with either boat. We left the old harbour at the start of the flood and progressed (fairly slowly at first as the sea water discharge was very poor) we eased her along with Jet but back washing the intake with a pump cleared the system and we were then able to crack on. SAM_2008 by mudlarker2, on Flickr Not a record breaking run but not a bad time, we passed "Paper Moon" and "Exol Pride" in the Ouse SAM_2016 by mudlarker2, on Flickr SAM_2018 by mudlarker2, on Flickr and arrived safely at Goole where they had the lock open and ready for us. SAM_2022 by mudlarker2, on Flickr As soon as we were through the lock Jet went ahead and moved the crane barge out of the way and we slipped Doris into the same spot and set off immediately with Bartholomew, straight into the lock and away with only time for a few shouted comments to Joe of Cygnus. We made Apex still with the ebb but Bartholomew is very slow, I think she must have a forest growing underneath her !!! SAM_2030 by mudlarker2, on Flickr we continued slowly down the Humber SAM_2039 by mudlarker2, on Flickr SAM_2040 by mudlarker2, on Flickr SAM_2041 by mudlarker2, on Flickr With darkness overtaking us before we got to Hull SAM_2045 by mudlarker2, on Flickr This was definitely a record breaking run ...... but not a record you talk about 5 hours from Goole to the Old Harbour at the start of the river Hull. As the skipper said "a barge and tow could have made it up there .... and back in that time" still I enjoyed it, although I was totally knackered by the end. We certainly had perfect weather for it !!!

Fortunately my phone was unable to load the photos so I did not have to waste my time looking at the sunsets. Maybe they did not have sunsets but usually photos do so I assume that's what it was about.

Agreed. If only there was a competition that he could enter them into.
