Well since I spent hours tweaking this one (well ok, 3 minutes) here it is. Nostalgia for TD from the dark days of no colour. N Nice picture - slightly spoiled by the CRT sign sprouting from the slide, and let's draw a discreet veil over the pimply Hudson proboscis.
I have to ask though - is that really a fake lum?

Not sure what you are seeing when you ask about “fake lum”. No there are no “fake lums”. There is a stove at the front which wasn’t lit at the time, hence the chimney removed and the cap on. That’s it. Exhaust is out the side at the back, it’s a modern engine.

As we both know it’s nothing to do with the photo and everything to do with your hate filled long standing grudge against me because years ago I gave you some advice you didn’t want to hear. How very sad to have your life dominated by hate, anger and grudges. I feel very sorry for you. No it's all about the photo, as can be seen from the posts your the one who has resulted to personal attacks, so I think it's you who are hate filled. I just think it's a boring pretentious photo, probably the worst effort I've seen in the comp this year so maybe you should get the wooden spoon? You poor thing. I suppose one day you might have something nice to say about someone apart from yourself, but it’s yet to happen.

Usually elm for old narrow boats I believe. Elm wood burns like churchyard mould. Even the very flames are cold. Thanks for the reply. I turn pens for a hobby and it would be great to take some wood from these poor old boats, dry and stabilise then turn into a pen. Something to remember these magnificent vessels. Regards, Paul.

First post. Welcome to thunderboat. There's been a flurry of new members over this weekend, I wonder why? Keep posting, we like a chat here Rog Thanks Rog for the welcome, I have been following this forum for 5 months. This was the first question I had so I thought I would join. :-)) Cheers, Paul.

That's a nice idea I really like that. I wonder if the wood would be in good enough condition though.

I'm inclined to agree with you kris. I think a rule for the photo competition could be that the image has not been manipulated. Otherwise it becomes a competition about who has the "best" image manipulation software and/or skill. Should just be a plain photo taken at 11:58am. Nothing complicated.

Just decorative like the paint job, the stop beam, the nicely curving roof line etc etc.

Are you saying that no manual control of exposure, contrast, colour etc should be allowed? So the camera’s automatic functions are in charge, not the photographer? And the photo must be taken at a specific time (11:58)? Seems very draconian and anti-human to me, but why not launch a competition with these rules and see how it goes?

The shading on the brickwork behind it made it look like a chimney with brass decorations to me. Perhaps I need to go to Specsavers.
More questions:
Why is there a row of people standing on the bridge in the background?

You’d have to ask them. But since it is a museum I’d guess they were a group of friends visiting the museum. Apparently some people do have real friends, not just on-line virtual ones.
