I read somewhere that some boat dwellers in Reading had put notices on their boats which said that anyone attaching a notice to their boat was entering a contract and agreed to pay the boat owner £100. Not sure if it was a giggle or could actually be legal. what's sauce for the goose..... It would also be useful to state "or take photos for the purpose of identification", the boat being an artwork, copyrighted to the owner, or something like that.

Not sure if it was a giggle or could actually be legal. Good for them, if it's true. It really is high time that the population of this country stops meekly rolling over and accepting the crap that's dished out by the likes of C&RT and local authorities. There is a general belief among minor officials representing bodies such as these that they can ride roughshod over individuals with some of their imaginary, self-conferred powers, . . a belief which is all too frequently reinforced by way of the tacit support of overloaded Courts who are only too happy to try to speed things up through the unquestioning acceptance of whatever pseudo-legalistic garbage gets trotted up to them .

that would be a normal underhand tactic that these cowboys would employ. quite a few useful defence points. i wish them well. Will you be having any hand in helping them? I am not involved - only just heard of it last night. The NBTA are more than capable of helping out in these circumstances, though whether they too, have had enough notice to attend court today to personally advise the boaters concerned, I don't know. If it all gets railroaded through, I rather think that there are enough precedent lawsuits involving District Enforcement to demonstrate grounds for appeal. I suspect that the strength of their cases will depend a lot on whether this is dealing with short overstays or prolonged camping out.

Ukrainian try-it-on-boy or Cleaner-Upper of the Piss-Takers? Is Kurpil a Saint or a Sinner? You decide! Photo of District Enforcement's Richard Dobbie and Danylo Kurpil "Coming to get you, ready or not!!"

Dobbie is long gone. It's just Danny Boy now. A good caning in court could put an end once and for all to this grubby little outfit that has net assets after 8-years of 'trading' of just £23,000.

Money-laundering Ukrainian Mafia? I know Dobbie's gone but there are few pics of Danny-boy on t'Internet. If there's just £23,000 in their account, perhaps the Fraud Squad should be tipped off? Just where has it all gone?

Why is there need for them to hold any more, any profits just go into the pockets of the shareholders. How many staff and computers does it need?

They don't, of course. But it does rather expose all their claims to be "industry leaders" etc. to be entirely imaginary and shows them up for what they really are - a one-man band of chancers.
