By the way, found one of these in my change last week: "Two Finnish special two-euro commemorative coins will be released in 2018. The theme of the special commemorative coin released in the spring will be Finnish National Landscape Koli and the autumn’s special coin will pay tribute to Finnish Sauna Culture." That's the sauna one (above), here's the Koli one below (Koli is on the western side of Lake Pielinen in eastern Finland):

Makes your annual ‘health service tourist’ trip even better value huh?👍 Freeloading scrote🙄🙄🙄 Freeloading indeed. Our IWA yearly subscription request has come in the post and we'll pay it so you can have a nice litter-free canalside when the volunteers pick up your discarded beer cans. In 28 years I haven't used the NHS in the UK myself; my daughter had a mild throat infection 12 years ago and we nipped into a health centre by Loch Lomond and she got some antibiotics for 'free' (the taxes I've paid in the UK more than cover that methinks).

Headlines like this will be used by our remoaner friends to justify their cause. A temporary 1% downward shift in our currency, which is as good as it is bad in many ways, in exchange for perpetual servitude to the fourth reich.

I don't know what currency 'values' mean - always confusing. A weak Pound means good for trade, a strong Pound means more buying power! I mean, make your minds up! For us earning the hated Euro, all it means is that buying £££ before we go on our trips is cheaper (today 1.11, June 2016 1.40). I hope you realise how cheap food is in the UK. We are often surprised to find our bill half of what we pay in Finland. Often, in the evenings, shops are almost giving food away, and with food approaching it's Sell-By date it's reduced to half-price at least. No wonder so many Brits are morbidly obese. "Why are the British the fattest nation in western Europe? If you look down onto Britain from space right now, all you'll see is triangular slices of pizza disappearing into spheres." www.vice.com/da/article/5gaxpn/british-people-are-so-fat-you-can-see-them-from-space

I thought the health service Andyberg was referring to was the CRT Making Things Better by Water (MTBBW) state funded mental health charity.
But I imagine foxy has a license / certificate in force for his vessel.

Didn't someone point out that organising volunteers is actually more costly than paying them wages? I seem to remember someone had asked CRT about it and they refused to deny it. Or similar.
I think the volunteer scheme is wrong personally. They should be employing young enthusiasts and paying them. Volunteers artificially effect the availability of paid jobs. This seems wrong to me. What about having some volunteers in management ?

I thought you were kicking the IWA into touch? It's amazing how much they still cash in off past glories. I've said it before - Branch level tend to be a bit more useful, on my patch Northampton look after the upkeep of the Arm, Peterborough are banging their heads against an EA brick wall over the closure of Welches dam and the 40' - doesn't stop them fighting the good fight though. At National level cosying up to C&RT to push a few influential IWA members personal agenda doesn't sit well with me at all. I was sure naughtyfox was going to let his membership lapse last time we discussed the IWA? What happened Foxy?

I know he was talking about iwa volunteers not crt. I was just referring to it to get you to confirm it as i wasn't sure I had it right. I imagine the IWA volunteer system is cheaper. One would hope so !
