So plans of going out on either the 27/28th are now scuppered. River Advice for Boaters, STRONG STREAM ADVICE has been Issued: Boating Advice for River Nene. Floodline 0345 9881188, quickdial 032112. I suspected it was going to happen, we have had a fair bit of rain over the last week or so, it's raining as I type. 4/5 days over the Christmas period is unlikely to be long enough to get it gone and SSA lifted. I have a cunning plan though - wonder if mouse can figure it out

Looked like a lot of water when we drove over it on the A1 yesterday.
If you fancy a trip out on the placid GU from the 28th let me know. I’ll be heading back North from the Tring area. I want to get the boat past the Cosgrove stoppage (7th Jan) so I can get onto the Oxford.

No problem Gazza. For future reference we do like dogs. We’ve looked after my mates Staff/Labrador cross a couple of times on the boat. He took to the boat like a duck to water...well not literally...

Moor up at the paint dock and have a few beers then round and round pretending we are going back to Titchmarsh! Probably won't be a trip to Bozeat to glumly look at the state of the Zephyr. Or is it nail a few more turbo bits onto Fairlight? Would Mouse the boat get under Thorpe Waterville bridge?

If the weather is good enough we may have to go and burn some of your diesel 🛥️👍

‘Ent modern technology good? Can walk to pub and connect to their whify and chops with people on thunderboats. Was persuaded against my better judgment to show my face and pick up some Christmas cards. Rude not to have a couple of ciders!

Still in the dark. Maybe be sit on boat with Wallas on drinking beer! If we do that we are burning my diesel which won’t do at all 🧐 seeing as Ely and Cambridge must not be allowed to flood we could stretch Vanguard’s legs - I’ll buy lunch this time 👍🍻

A fair bit of that came down from Norfolk !!! You buy lunch, I'll get the train tickets then. Weather looking OK for Thurs, Fri and Sat.

Honestly. Anyone would think the River Nene is the Mighty Mississippi. Have you ever boated on the sometimes navigable flood control system? Admittedly its been 20 years since the last really nasty flood but we never relax.
