Yes some rivers, but it's better if it doesn't have chemicals in it.

Do you have a list of rivers where it’s ok to do this.

Can toilet waste still be emptied into some rivers? Yes. Nene. Middle Levels Great Ouse. No chemicals. Quite how long we are allowed to carry on like this is anyone’s guess. it is a big advantage - particularly with a macerating toilet

Cheers gazza, ever day a school day 👍 It’s a bit academic in my opinion - this is Oundle Treatment works, the outfall for which is to the right of the plant where the tree line has almost a bay type look to it, it stinks there - I wouldn’t swim in it 🤢

Some twat from C&RT was sounding off about it in a GOBA newsletter - a few editions before they got kicked into touch 🙏👍👌

I worked for Anglian Water for near on 11 years, my missus is still there, near on 30 years. Between us I think we know what can be discharged, but wanted to make sure we are up with what's going on today. I realise these are EA waters but they work closely together.

What do you mean ‘up with what’s going on today’’? Is this from a personal boating point of view or from an ulterior angle/motive? Nothing has changed with the rules regarding boats discharging into the river for as long as anyone can remember.

Someone tried to tell me that under the 1991 act, (whatever that is) there was no dumping toilet waste in ANY river in the UK. Nothing personal to me.

This came up 18 months back with this miserable so and so stirring the pot. www.canalboat.co.uk/home/steve-haywood-the-dirty-truth-about-sea-toilets-and-rivers-1-4835116So so as it stands, no chemicals which could harm marine and aquatic life and all is ok.

After all, the fish, birds, cattle etc all poop in the rivers (and the canals for that matter). Although obviously it is all about dilution and so discharging a single “toilet experience” is rather different from emptying one of those large suitcases-full that some people like to carry around.
