Just thought I'd put my ponderings on here for anyone else who might head this way in the future.
1st bit of advice, don't try to moor up just north of the currently moored boats above Tottenham Lock. The mud/sand sucks you in and won't let you go - no grinding warning like on a canal! Many thanks to the local (who initially took the piss a little bit - he had seen it so many times before - but then spent best part of an hour helping me to get free). Moorings just below Stonebridge lock seem fine (although it is winter).
Message to CRT, you might wish to extend the 'shallow water, no mooring' signs a 100 yds south of where they start - or do some dredging!

Richard Parry will be round with a shovel tomorrow morning. Oh, no, he won't. Lady Muck of CWDF is out that way somewhere, I'd get a move on to the much nicer waters of the Stort. See what the artists are up to in Parndon Mill. Why not start learning to ring the bells at Roydon church? That's a nice part of the world, north-west Essex and north-east Herts. My area, of course.

I do hope you've told CRT...I'm sure they'll rush to respond and put things right to ensure that the canals continue to be fit for their purpose
