Need to buy in some help (yes I know most on here can perform magic but I can't). Got someone called Ron (Stonebridge Lock) helping atm and he has recommended Keith Duffy as someone who would teach me. Any thoughts - am I about to get ripped of aka Dunkley Style

1st one - sort out charging issues properly - hopefully Ron will sort that out.
2nd one - 'hold my hand' through a full engine service - just spoke to Keith and seems a good bloke so day booked in.

No idea as I have never met Tony.

I look at this this way - if I can't do something alone... then paying someone else who DOES or to show me, is worth every penny... once I can do it however, unless I was really flush (which is unlikely) I'll never pay again...

Well I went on a couple of courses to learn about the engine and oil changes and still bottled out...think if someone had been there with me and talked me through my own engine I'd have then had a go.

A worthwhile investment. Its not rocket science and once you know your boat you can fix some problems before calling RCR.

No idea as I have never met Tony. I think that was a joke. You need to learn to recognise them as well as make them up. 'Prentices these days!

Well worth the investment of having someone supervise/guide you through a full service and other checks.
Always best (in my view) if YOU do the work under their instruction as (for my part) it sticks in the memory better.
Take notes if you need to, it's amazing what you forget (if diesel engines are entirely new to you as they were me).
Good luck with it, whatever else it boosts your confidence with the boat.

I do all the work on the boat myself but I'll often pay someone to do work on my car even if I could do it myself simply because I can't be arsed to do it.

Just try not to become an oil-change fetishist.

I have no personal experience of Keith Duffy but he is highly recommended on the London boaters Facebook page.
