It was one of Lincoln and Hull's gravellers called "Marnham", and it was aground on Keadby Low Bar when the photo was taken.
Someone put the photo up in a CWDF thread I started called something like - 'Down the the Tidal Trent - why not do it the easy way ?'

It's a pleasure, John, . . . in fact you done me a good turn reminding me of it. I was going to look for that CWDF thread and re-type my posts from it to put up on here. As far as I'm concerned, my input to that thread is my copyright and any TB'er is welcome to reproduce/copy & paste it over on here. I'm going to move some of it across, but between me not being completely 'au fait' with computers and my knackered old laptop, it could take a while ! Edit to add : Looks as if I've managed to hit some of the right keys in the right order for a change, . . there's some useful stuff here on another thread from CWDF stamp collecter member, Phil Atterley, just before he was banned : < www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?/topic/90901-navigateing-the-tidal-trent-to-keadby-junction/& >

Thanks for that ! There's a lot of crap in that thread that was posted by one or two stupid sods who had nothing useful to contribute, but were determined nonetheless to parade their ignorance, . . . but it's easy enough to spot and ignore.

Hi Tony! Would you mind if I gave you a ring one evening this week to discuss? My last week at work and basically need to commit to going the long way or the quick way! It might be easier to work out the details over the phone.
Cheers!
Alastair

Good morning Alastair, . . by all means call me whenever convenient. You don't need to make a decision about the route to take to Leeds until you get to the top of Buckby, which are the seven locks by the side of the M1 that take you up onto Braunston Summit, and even then taking the North Oxford way round to the Trent & Mersey via Atherstone and Glascote would still leave you with a second chance to change your route at Fradley and get onto the Trent via Burton and Shardlow. Are you still aiming to be waiting at Dudswell Two for when the stoppage there finishes next Friday ?

Apparently it finishes this Friday according to the notice - canalrivertrust.org.uk/notice/13033/lock-47-dudswell-grand-union-canal. Hopefully they'll stick to that. Thanks for the tips on my route, I'll probably do that then and I'll give you a ring closer to the time then when I know how I'm doing for time/distance - whether I'll be there sooner (unlikely) or later (probably)!
