I have to say our boat was looking particularly skanky when we visited a couple of days ago. I have never seen green slime on the side of the cabin before, and a huge amount on the non-sun-side of the gunnels. Something to do with the wet weather I guess. We are used to the roof being fairly black in the spring, from the several adjacent live aboard boats’ stoves. We will need a major cleanup before setting out in July.
Steve advised us not to polish the boat too much, ultimately it just takes paint off. Instead we have a nice protective layer of chalky oxidised paint! Paint is 13 years old and mostly in good condition, just a couple of bits rusted through that I need to address this year. Plus the tunnel bands definitely need doing.

Its certainly been wet.
Today there is 110 cumecs of water flowing down through Cliveden deep near Maidenhead. That is enough to trigger red boards in various places. Serious bit of water and ground is soaked everywhere.
Second wettest winter since 1871 in the Thames region.
Glorious spring day but we won't see mamy Boats out as people are afeared of being uninsured.

My mates currently scrubbing his boat, it having been stood since last August 😱
A cream boat which really shows the green 'mank' off very well.
Pretty sure the wet weather has significantly increased the green slime this year.

What with the lack of care it's more of a dingy pink.

Also I believe the tin of Rustins paint was mentioned before...some time before...
However I'm a great believer that what a man does in the privacy of his own...attic...is entirely his business.

Love winding people up we do!

What with the lack of care it's more of a dingy pink. When I bought the pink dink the lady said 'you might not want it - it is painted pink inside'. Its funny how people make assumptions. It does need freshening up as it is a sort of faded swamp pink.

I paid double anyway. Dink was not for sale until I made an offer she could not refuse.
