We've had a 70ft hose encased in a plastic reel for about 15 years. Fits in gas locker. AGAINST BSS REGULATIONS!!!

Technology seems to have by passed hoses. The normal garden ones are a nightmare to curl up in a satisfactory fashion. The flat ones are difficult to get back on the reel, if there's still water in them, which there will be. Duh.... We have one of these which came with the boat: What could be simpler? We have a few rubber washers which I take with me (well, just one each time) and stick it in the end that screws to the tap, that helps water from spraying all over the place. When we have finished, I lay the pipe straight, and run it through my fingers to squeeze the water out of the pipe - twice if I feel like it, but once is enough. I moan a lot about things, but this hosepipe and reel is great - all it should be, works fine. You no read my post proper !!! look at the second paragraph

You'd have to have a pretty annoying BS scheme inspector to fail the boat for having an 'ose in the gas locker.

I want a folding 'ose.
It seems to me the transfer of water from a canalside tap to a boat tank could be done without using old fashioned equipment.

I have a flat hose, winds up in its cassette, expelling the water between 2 rollers as it goes.

I think, for the well-being of boaters, CRT should have beer taps strategically positioned along the waterways, so it's just from tap to mouth via a hosepipe. There could be a meter into which you insert 50p coins.
Has anyone ever filled their water tank with beer?

My reading of the BSS regs is that nothing should be stored in the locker that could block the drain, damage the valves, or ignite LPG.
The hose would have to have been set alight before it could ignite LPG.

I had ordinary hose on reel..hated it cos it was so difficult to get in and out of gas locker where i stored it. Did you take it out of the gas locker before the BSS man turned up? Because you are not allowed to have anything in the gas locker apart from the gas bottles. It's not a storage room. If you did take it out before the BSS, that's akin to lying - and you told us you don't tell lies. You obviously break the law/rules it seems, when it suits you I didn't have a BSS during ownership..the guy who had it built and did most of the technical stuff had BSS done before I got it and sadly had to sell before the next one due... So quit trying to wind up... Not working....

We've got 3 "X-hoses" which live in the mop bucket and can join together to reach 225 foot when they have to... like they did on the Caldon at Pool lane services when John Prescots 2 boats (they are filming) spent the night (and following morning) moored on the water point!
So far, I just fill the bucket with water ever few weeks and drop in a milton tablet to kill any bugs - quick rinse through for a few mins before use and they're good to go again.
