Bring it on. Moved yesterday and somehow damaged my back, even wiping me bum is painful on the back. Automated Mutt walkers would be helpful today! I quite fancy a robot dog. I'd get some counciling for that if I was you.

On the face of it, yes, although ISTR that large aircraft have a better per-passenger mpg figure than a single-occupancy car.

So what are you saying?it would have been worse if she had driven from LA? The point is she took a long haul flight to take part in a climate change demo, which ever way you look at it she's a hypocrite and a narcissist.

One persons actions can pale into insignificance if they persuade many others to follow their beliefs. That's great if she can persuade all the protesters to get into a plane and fuck off back to LA with her I know what you mean though. If one wealthy celebrity were to be consuming ten times the average resources of an ordinary person and they could persuade 20 ordinary people to halve their already low consumption of resources then they could keep on at their own level of consumption and it would be a net reduction in consumption overall. Do as I say not as I do. The solution would be to limit consumption per head regardless of wealth. I realise it can't happen.

No that's bollocks, she is displaying the exact kind of behaviour that most of the protestors are demonstrating against. So how is that going to persuade people to stop flying for personal gratification?

But do you not think highlighting the issues creates a change, even highlighting the supposed hippocracy of the demonstrators. So when has, do as I say not as I do ever got the desired results?

The old name for a very large majority of those protesters would have been "Champagne Socialists"

Do as I say not as I do. The solution would be to limit consumption per head regardless of wealth. I realise it can't happen. Last night on BBC4, 'age of stupid'. Really interesting watch. It concluded that it's likely that countries with higher per capita production of co2 will agree to equalise their usage with that of lower consuming countries. This would likely be facilitated in the higher user countries with co2 per person rationing. It's an interesting concept, completely at odds with all efforts so far which, have been to price groups of people out of excessive consumption. On the face of it, it seems a fairer system. It remains to be seen, if this ever were to come into place, whether having children, the very most damaging thing anyone can do in terms of the environment, were exempted from the 'counting' for the rationing, which would then lead by necessity to everyone's 'ration amount' to be reduced.

The old name for a very large majority of those protesters would have been "Champagne Socialists" Very true. Their smug faces as they get arrested because it's some kind of 'badge of honour' says a lot. What the younger ones might not appreciate is that getting arrested and charged for causing an obstruction or causing criminal damage might blight their future employment prospects. Fools.
