That looks massive. Is that the same as what on my Norman then, the top doesnt look the same to me. That prop looks well to low to me, not that i am saying i am right just towards outboards etc. I am thinking on maybe converting to prop, will this give better less draugth ? I am going to look into the cost and when i get the boat home se what room there is in the center cockpit for the engine.. I got em arse about backwards, Enfield on the Weston, looks to be a Transadrive on yours. They are much of a muchness size wise. I think Norman had something to do with Transa in the later years?

The engine bearers will dictate the outdrive position, if the engine is set low ( to provide extra cabin space) the leg will be low. Yours looks on about the centerline of the driveshaft bellows, not bad at all. I know of a pair of Enfield legs that have the gearshift permanently submerged, not ideal as the shift seal is nothing more than felt seal. They do ok with regular oil changes.

Just thinking if it does it be easy to measure the draught then would it. She'll be right π As I said they are close dimensional across Enfield, Transa, Sonic. If you are worried measuring it shouldn't be an issue π

Good luck Hi Patty. yes at it again lol. mad for it I was meant to not have another project for at least a year but hell with it. Nice project but It looks hard is not it? I am newbie in DIY craft so I think I will work with some small boat project. A I need to work with many different kinds of materials I need to have good tools. Lately I needed to buy new angle gringer. Plus I found review with angle gringers too on one website. Its a lot of work and some parts hard work but all DIYable. Buy tools as you go I try not to buy cheap rubbish, i have always bought Makita or Dewalt. never been left down by them and i give them some stick.

I just had to replace my Makita DA sander, it spat out part of the commutator. Good kit though.
Are you still planning on lifting out on the Rufford branch?

I am booked in for the link now and doing the cruise up on the 30th August. I was just not sure a sif th draught was to much but now feel fine with it. Just folk saying it had a 0.9m/3foot draught.

MMmmmwhat wellll, its draws a bit than we thought. The rudder dont help much either. From the flat on top of the drive thingy to the bottom of the rudder is 30 inch, when then leg is set down in position it is a few inches below the water surface so not far from 36 inch as it does slopes down aswell. If its pumped out it could save a few inch as there was a lot of water in it. and a front ballast will help. So either try and remove the rudder as its an add on made from plywood by the looks of it, well made aswell. Or hold the leg up with a chain to reduce the draught when cruising the Ribble Link. Bit like it is in t epic but use a shackel to be able to adjust it easier. Good bit is it started after a good few turns and without the glo plugs. There again about 10 inch of water in it so we pumped it out a bit, that must of mainly been from all the rain we have had. I have decided to get moving it next weekend so plan is my brother is coming down and we will sort a frame out for seating and get the alternator wired up to keep batteries topped up. Main thing is though to wire up a few bilge pumps.

Have you checked the gear selector? That Morse cable looks a bit odd it almost seems like it has a 90 degree bend in it which would make it non functional.
